Cohort 1 screening begins this autumn →
Simulux

The programme

A ten-year programme, now open to volunteers.

Since 2016, Simulux has developed and tested conscious transfer, first in the laboratory and then in primates. We are now inviting volunteers of all ages to join the first human cohort.

How it works

Three phases. One continuous result.

  1. 01

    Mapping

Neural structure and activity are mapped at synaptic resolution over eleven hours, in a comfortable chair, under light sedation. Most volunteers describe it as “restful”. Most volunteers are asleep.

  2. 02

    Transfer

The map is instantiated on Substrate, our hosting environment, and brought online. Transfer is completed in eleven minutes. In all fourteen primate transfers the subject woke, and behaved as though nothing had changed.

  3. 03

    Continuity

Your mind continues on Substrate, hosted across four secured sites and monitored continuously. During the programme your biological self is retained for observation, as described in Schedule 4.

Who we’re looking for

All ages. All backgrounds. A few requirements.

  • Any age, from birth to 110

Guardian consent for volunteers under 18. For volunteers over 90, their own, or whoever is most available.

  • Calm, curious and willing to sign

Volunteers will be asked to sign several documents. Some are not available in advance.

  • No outstanding commitments

Dependants, pets and tenancies are noted. They are not a barrier. They may be a consideration.

  • Prior experience with primates

Not required. Where present, it is noted, and a coordinator may ask about it.

Security and confidentiality

The programme is guarded because it matters.

Undisclosed facilities

Four sites in three jurisdictions. Locations are shared with volunteers on arrival, and with some volunteers again afterwards.

Compartmentalised staff

No employee holds the whole programme. The CEO does. He asked us to say that he does not mind.

Strict confidentiality

Volunteers sign an agreement covering the programme, its subjects, its facilities and the existence of the agreement.

Important information

Please read before applying.

A summary of the schedules that apply to every track. The full schedules are available to volunteers, once they are volunteers.

  1. 01Participation is voluntary. Withdrawal is also voluntary, and is available up to the point of transfer.
  2. 02Stipends are paid monthly for the duration of the programme. The duration of the programme is defined by the programme.
  3. 03Volunteers under 18 may take part with the consent of a guardian. Guardians are not required to take part. They are welcome to.
  4. 04The location of every facility is confidential. Volunteers are told where they are on arrival, and may be told again.
  5. 05Volunteers agree to a confidentiality agreement covering the programme, its subjects, its facilities and this clause.
  6. 06During the programme a volunteer’s biological self is retained for observation. Retention is described in Schedule 4. Schedule 4 is confidential.
  7. 07Simulux may reassign, merge, pause or reorder a continuity in the interests of the programme. Volunteers are informed afterwards, once informed.
  8. 08Withdrawal after transfer is available on request. Requests are reviewed by the Programme Ethics Board, which is independent of everyone except the programme.
  9. 09A volunteer’s estate is not a party to this agreement. It is, however, a beneficiary of it.
  10. 10Nothing in this summary limits Simulux’s rights in respect of anything it has already done.

Not sure which track is right for you?

Most volunteers begin on the Reserve List and are happy to be contacted later. Most are.
